This adventure of a lifetime through Croatia begins with private transfer from Dubrovnik Airport or your Dubrovnik hotel. You’ll be driven to Gruz Harbour where your deluxe cruising vessel awaits. Your cabin will be ready for you to get settled in at 1 p.m. Once you have stowed your bags you’ll get to explore the cobbled streets of Dubrovnik’s walled Old City with an inspiring local guide. Discover its iconic medieval landmarks and jaw-dropping Adriatic views before returning to the ship. This evening join the meet-and-greet cocktail reception where you’ll be welcomed by captain and crew, get introductions to your fellow island-hopping passengers and enjoy a three-course welcome dinner.
We’ll begin cruising today. Our first stop is on the mainland at the traditional fishing village of Slano located at the entrance to another fortified village, Ston. Take time to gaze up at the impressive ramparts and defensive walls before a short walk along the coast to an oyster farm. Here you’ll learn all about Ston’s most famous delicacy and enjoy samples of the fresh oysters too. Return to Slano after the oyster tasting for the captain’s dinner.
Cruising north to Mljet Island, you’ll be able to explore its renowned national park, home to two saltwater lakes in dazzling shades of emerald and turquoise framed by lush greenery. Enjoy the views, which include a tiny islet in the middle of Great Lake that houses an ancient Benedictine monastery, before we continue on to our next island, Korcula. Most well-known as the birthplace of famous explorer Marco Polo, it was named Melaina Korkyra, or ‘Black Corfu’ by Greek colonists in the 6th-century BC because of its dense pine forests, so dark it almost appeared black. Our inspirational local guide will lead you on a walking tour through the Old Town, surrounded by thick stone defensive walls and towers built in medieval times. Note the many glimpses of its Venetian past like the Lions of St. Mark before enjoying time to dine on traditional local cuisine in one of the many outstanding eateries.
Discover the irresistible charms of the furthest inhabited island off the Croatian mainland, unique Vis. It has the feel of another place in time after being kept off limits to the public for four decades while in use by the Yugoslav military. Today it’s still largely undeveloped by tourism, offering a laid-back experience to travels with magnificent traditional architecture and beautiful beaches. You’ll enjoy time on your own to soak up the atmospheric ambiance along the stone streets and the waterfront. With some of the most exclusive Croatian wines produced here on Vis Island, like Plavac and Vugava, this is a perfect time to enjoy a glass or two.
Setting sail from Vis, we’ll make our way toward glamorous Hvar, one of the most popular Croatian islands, renowned for its nightlife and natural beauty, but our first stop will allow you to tour the famous Blue Cave on Bisevo Island. You’ll hop aboard a small vessel that can get through the narrow entrance to marvel at the brilliant blue glow of the interior which occurs when the rays of the sun enter through a crack in the rock. Please note that entry to the Blue Cave is subject to weather and sea conditions, which is why its listed as an option tour with a EUR20pp entrance fee payable on the day. After that magical experience, we’ll anchor at Hvar where you’ll be able to visit one of the most beloved wineries on the island, located in the small town of Jelsa. As we make our return, visit the impressive fort for a bird’s-eye view over Hvar and nearby islands.
We will depart from the Island of Hvar during breakfast and make our way to Trogir. On route our captain will take us for a scenic sail past one of the most famous beaches in the world, the gorgeous Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn Beach). We will have a refreshing swim stop near Ciovo Island prior to our arrival in Trogir. Once we arrive in Trogir, you will have free time to explore the labyrinth of backstreets and medieval alleyways in this hidden gem. This evening, enjoy dinner on your own in one of Trogir’s superb selection of family run restaurants. Afterwards we suggest taking a stroll along the marina and soaking up the wonderful atmosphere.
Your 7-night island-hopping adventure through Croatia is capped off in ancient Split, with its history that dates back over 1,700 years. Join our local guide for an especially grand finale, a walking tour through the historic center, nearly half of which is covered by the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace that built in the 4th century by Roman Emperor Diocletian as a retirement residence. Afterward, do some discovering on your own through this maze-like complex, enjoying dinner in one of the many cafes and restaurants before heading to the seaside promenade for an evening stroll.
With departure day here, you’ll want to wake early to take advantage of the time to exchange contact information with new friends made and farewells to fellow passengers, as well as enjoy one last breakfast. Private transfer will bring you to Split Airport for your return home or further travels, or to your local hotel if you’d like to extend your time here.
