Welcome to Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic.” Our driver will meet you at the airport for a private transfer to your hotel in the city. You’ll soon discover how it got its nickname, with its magnificence revealed as soon as you step into the Old Town. As you’ll have the rest of the day at your leisurely, you may want to enjoy the pedestrianized streets on your own to shop for souvenirs, unwind in one of the many restaurants or cafes, or take a ride up to the top of Mount Srd via cable car for a spectacular view of the historic center, neighboring islands and the glistening expanse of the sea.
Today you’ll be able to board the elegant vessel that will bring you on the island-hopping portion of your tour. You’ll be transferred from your hotel (or the airport if you’re arriving in Dubrovnik today) to Gruz Harbour. Your cabin will be ready from 1 pm on. Join a local guide for a walking tour through the cobbled streets of Dubrovnik’s walled Old City. You’ll be able to explore ancient wonders like Rector’s Palace and even walk atop the medieval walls with its intricate system of forts, towers, bastions, and casemates while enjoying a panoramic view from above.
Today we will sail to the charming village of Slano, situated on the mainland. You can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery, as we cruise around Dubrovnik’s city walls before heading in the direction of the Elaphiti islands for a swim stop. Afternoon arrival in charming Slano, this traditional fisherman’s village was once fortified and is famous for its oysters. From Slano we head towards Ston, a sought-after seaside town that is known for its oyster production. You will take a small boat out into the middle of the estuary and enjoy sampling fresh oysters directly from the sea with a dash of lime and some locally produced wine. Return to the ship for the Captain’s Dinner onboard.
Cruising north our next stop begins the island-hopping portion of your tour. You’ll get to visit Mljet Island with a walk along the shores of its famous pair of saltwater lakes, the largest of which has a tiny islet in the middle that hosts an ancient monastery and church. After returning to the ship we sail to picturesque Korcula. Famous as the birthplace of explorer Marco Polo, you’ll meet our local guide just outside of the walled Old Town for a walking tour through the historic interior, viewing Venetian-Gothic buildings like St. Mark’s Cathedral, Arneri Palace, and the Bishop’s treasury while learning more about the landmarks as well as the history of Korcula itself. Afterward, you’ll have leisurely time this evening to sample the delicious traditional eats found in the many outstanding cafes and restaurants.
We’ll make an early departure for Vis this morning, arriving on the island known as the “Mediterranean as it once was” in the afternoon, stopping to enjoy a refreshing dip along the way. One of the most remote islands along the Dalmatian coast, it was only opened to the public in recent years after being closed off for four decades while used as a military base, leaving it wonderfully unspoiled of much commercial development. You may choose to enjoy its traditional architecture, lovely beaches, and atmospheric vibe along the stone streets with a walk through Vis Town, stopping to take advantage of one of the outstanding tavernas.
We’re hoping for Croatia’s famously sunny warm weather to shine down on us today so that we can enjoy a tour of the remarkable Blue Cave on the island of Bisevo before we journey to today’s final destination, the island of Hvar. When conditions are right, you can enter on a small boat tour to experience its otherworldly-like blue glow that occurs when the sun enters through a crack in the rock, reflecting off the white limestone sea bottom. Afterward, we’ll continue to Hvar, known for attracting international jet setters with world-class restaurants, lively bars, and clubs. Upon our arrival, join a wine-tasting tour, visiting one of the most popular wineries on the island in Jelsa.
Trogir is where we’ll spend tonight, but along the way, we’ll make a stop at the town of Bol on Brac Island. This is where one of the most stunning beaches in all of Europe can be found. You can enjoy a swim off its shores, nearly all of which are surrounded by dreamy clear turquoise waters. Or, head into Bol to enjoy people-watching while sipping coffee. After lunch, we continue to Trogir, where you’ll be able to take in the sights of this living open-air museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its stone homes, palaces, monasteries, churches, and defensive walls. It also holds the finest example of sacral architecture in Croatia, the Cathedral of St. Lawrence.
Enjoy one last swim stop before you draw into Split today, our cruise’s final port of call. Upon our arrival, meet our local guide for a walking tour through its 1,700-year-old history, including the 4th-century Diocletian’s Palace which makes up nearly half the historic center, built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian to serve as his retirement residence. Afterward, wander through the maze-like complex on your own, browsing the ships and enjoying dinner in one of the many enticing restaurants or cafes. An evening stroll along the Riva, the seaside promenade is a perfect way to end the day.
After a final breakfast on-board you’ll disembark the cruise in Split. The rest of your journey will travel by land with a private driver, starting with a scenic drive to one of the world’s most breathtaking sights, and Croatia’s most popular attractions, on a guided walking tour. Images of Plitvice Lakes National Park often go viral thanks to its stunning natural beauty with 16 spectacular lakes with crystal clear blue-green waters that have been flowing over the limestone and chalk for thousands of years, creating calm pools and countless cascading falls, along with caves and rivers. You’ll ride about across one of the lakes and end the experience with a panoramic train ride that will bring you back to the entrance.
Private transfer will bring you from Plitvice Lakes to the world-renowned seaside town of Rovinj. Enjoy the afternoon to take in the beautiful cobbled medieval streets of Rovinj with its stunning sea view vistas. This evening we recommend sampling one of Rovinj’s popular restaurants such as La Puntalina which enjoys spectacular sunset views and delicious freshly caught seafood.
Explore the highlights of beautiful Istria while savoring its many flavors on this private tour. Begin by following your guide through Hum, tasting its local products – while it may be the world’s smallest town with just one street looping around its historic walls, it has an especially enchanting atmosphere. Next, visit a truffle hunting family near the village of Buzet for a light lunch with truffle tasting and a presentation of truffle products, followed by a visit to the hilltop village of Motovun, which is arguably Istria’s most beautiful hill town. Enjoy a final wine tasting in Vizinada before returning to your hotel.
After breakfast this morning your trip with us ends with a private transfer to either Zagreb Airport or Venice Airport. If you would like to customize this itinerary and add a few extra days in Venice or Zagreb, please discuss this with our Croatia travel specialists who will be happy to assist with this.
