Frequently Asked Questions

What currency is used in Croatia?

Croatia adopted the Euro in January 2023. For payment of all purchases on shore and on board the ship, Euro is required. It’s recommended that you take sufficient Euro with you to cover the cost of meals and drinks on some of the smaller islands of Croatia.

In the city of Dubrovnik and the towns of Split and Hvar, you can use credit cards and also withdraw funds from ATMs. However, credit cards are not accepted on board the ship. Your Cruise Manager can direct you to local currency exchange offices and ATM machines.

Do I need a visa for Croatia?

Visitors from America, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand do not require a visa to travel to Croatia. Guests from South Africa however, do require a Schengen visa to enter the country. Before you leave home for your luxury Croatian cruise, please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six months and that your visa is also valid, if this is required. Travel insurance is also your responsibility.

What are the tipping customs in Croatia?

It’s customary to give a gratuity as a voluntary way of showing satisfaction and appreciation for the good service that the crew provides. Tips are not included in the price of your cruise. At the end of the cruise, the captain will leave two envelopes in your cabin – one envelope for the crew, and one for the Cruise Director.

We suggest that you leave a tip of:

Ship Crew – between €15-20 per person per day

Cruise Director – between €6-8 per person per day

Please note tips should be paid in cash only.
